How to get the most out of chiropractic care in San Francisco

Here are some tips on how to get the most out of your chiropractic care: 

1.  Be consistent:

Healing and change involve a process.  Your body doesn't just get healthy, it takes repetition and dedication to help re-train and heal.  If your brain and body are used to something (even if it is not good for you), it is in a pattern and that pattern needs to evolve.  Training muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves takes time and some work to normalize.  

2. Trust:

Chiropractors are trained doctors and have taken an oath to do no harm.  We are here to help and will give you an estimate of what is needed to do in order to get to your goals.  If our goal is pain relief, we will set a goal for that.  If it is wellness or better posture, we will set a goal for that as well.  We also take into consideration what you are capable of doing and what your lifestyle is.  If these need changes, we will give advice for how to get results.  

3. Take on the responsibility: 

We work as a team together.  When you come into the office, we will do our job and guide you all we can but at home, work and socially but changes have to be done on your part as well.  Adjustments are not a magical cure.  We see you for a short time at the office.  The rest of the day you are out there living life so making lifestyle changes really make a difference.  

Here are some things not to do:

  • Slumping in a chair or desk 
  • Sleeping in positions that strain your spine and body
  • Staying in stressful situations.  That can be emotional, chemical or physical.  Stress is always the culprit in causing bad health

Here are some things to do:

  • Drink water (shoot for clear or pale yellow urine)
  • Eat healthy foods (lots of greens)
  • Get at least 7 hours of sleep per night
  • Exercise at least 3x a week
  • Do meditation or breath exercises
  • Sleep in healthy positions

These are healthy habits that will give your body what it needs to be healthy, injury free and reduce stress on the body.
