What to expect

Symptom relief and full body care:

Symptoms often arise from imbalances in the spinal column and body, improper lifestyle habits and accumulation of stress.  Dr. Gregory's examines your whole body with orthopedic testing for the spine, arms, legs, hands, ankles, feet.  She even checks if there is a correlation between spinal imbalances leading to imbalances of organs, systems and glands if necessary .  Her methods are safe, low force, non-invasive and determine the root of stressors or symptoms.  Then a personalized  chiropractic plan is developed to suit your individual needs.

What happens at your first chiropractic visit:

We will go over your past history and what your goals are.  We will listen and try and figure out what you need in order to reach your goals. There may be questions on your paperwork that may seem strange when asked but they are there to cover all areas of health so we need to know what to focus on or find out what is causing your symptoms.  Sometimes something that seems very minimal may be a part of the problem.  We ask questions to make sure we are getting all the information we need to find out what may be the cause of why you have come in and how we can tackle it together.

In order to analyze what is going on, we will do an exam and may even do a scan which will cover your spine column, muscle symmetry and Autonomic Nervous System which will see the health and adaptability of your body.   These tests will let us know if there is anything hidden that didn’t show up on manual examination.  None of these test are painful or toxic to your body.

We don’t do x-rays at our office but will send you somewhere local to get them if we deem necessary.  You will get treatment the same day of your first visit unless it is dangerous to do so.  We will make sure your body and systems are balanced.  If your body is balanced and stress is kept at a minimum, you will remain healthy and vibrant.

What do chiropractors do in a typical session?

After your first visit with us we will make sure you have had nothing that would prevent you from getting additional treatments.   This could be the same week if your problem is severe or the next week.  Dr. Gregory will come up with a plan that will be based on what your goals are and what your body needs.  In the beginning, visits may be frequent in order to retrain and keep your body and systems working the way they should but as your body heals and progresses, visits are less frequent.  Visits are normally around 5-15 minutes unless further testing is necessary.

Health is a process not an event

Your body is intelligent.  It learns and reacts to the situations 24 hours a day.  If you have symptoms, these are a response to stress, whether that stress be at home, work, school or sitting in traffic.

How long does a chiropractic adjustment take to work?

Normally, when coming in you can expect some relief.  The problem is after leaving us, there may be habits that you are doing that keep symptoms coming back.  Everyone is different and each person heals differently

When your body is uncomfortable, it is fighting to return to its natural homeostatic balance.  Something is in the way and needs to be addressed.  Chiropractic affects your whole body through the nervous system (brain and spinal cord).  This system is responsible for every function of your body and sends signals to every cell, tissue and organ (including your immune system).   So, it is vital to keep this amazing system healthy so you stay healthy.

Your body wants ease and fluidity, not stress and symptoms.  It strives for health and if given the proper tools can remain working at its top level, even as we get older.  Chiropractic allows your body to work efficiently without drugs, surgery or invasive measures.  Because your brain and spinal cord are vital to your health and wellness, we want them to work as efficiently as possible and help you with lifestyle changes, nutritional advice, ergonomics, posture, athletic performance or whatever comes up along the way. Now this is real health!

Dr. Gregory analyzes and addresses your whole body from head to toe. She even monitors your systems (including your organs) and tailors each treatment plan for your specific needs, wants and goals. Young or old, athlete or not, whether you are coming to us for pain, sports injury, car accident or a healthier you, your treatments are customized just for you! These plans get fast results and keep you in tip-top shape! All treatments are done non-invasively and discomfort free without the use of drugs or surgery.

3 phases or stages of healing:

Pyramid of Care

Phase 1: Relief

If you are in pain when you come into our office, we think of this as putting out the fire.  We need to get this fire under control and handled before things can start going back to normal.  So, our first objective is to help you feel better. After pain goes away, that is when the healing really begins and we can set the stage for stabilization and restoration.  Depending on the severity of your problem, it is typical to need care two to three times per week for four to 12 weeks.  We will change our tailored treatments as we go along to make sure you are feeling your best.  We will conduct testing and insight scanning (if necessary) to make sure you are healing and evolving.

Phase 2: Corrective/Restorative

During the corrective care phase, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely because inflammation and pain is now gone and your body is ready to heal.  Now since your body is starting to function properly again, flare ups and injuries can be prevented.  It is typical to need care four to eight times per month for six to 24 months, depending on your overall health and the severity of your problem.

Phase 3: Wellness

Once your body has fully healed and you have achieved your goals, it is important to come in for periodic adjustments or what we like to call "tune-ups" to avoid problems in the future and to make sure your body is functioning the way it should.  Usually, this only requires a quick visit to the chiropractor one to four times per month, based on your assessments, lifestyle and goals.
