How to find a chiropractor in San Francisco: Who is right for you?

Looking for a chiropractor can be scary especially if it is your first time seeking treatment.  Finding the chiropractor that fits your specific needs, goals and comfort levels can be a bit of work.

Here are some tips to find a chiropractor:

1. Referrals are awesome!

Family, friends, neighbors, co-workers want what is best for you and will try and get you to someone that they trust.  Listen to the advice but check them out online and see what they offer.  Do they focus on full body care? Are they gentle?  What techniques do they do?  What services do they have?  What is their overall vibe?

Just so you know, not all chiropractors do the same techniques.  There are many out there and some are more invasive than others.  For me, I like gentle adjustments along with muscle work.  Other people may want harder or more forceful work.  All chiropractors adjust the spine but there are many ways to do so.  Some chiropractors use tools, others do not so it can be a bit overwhelming at times.

2. Check to see if they have a website:

Read through their bio, services and techniques.  There is a lot of information you can get from looking at their site. There are normally pictures of the practice, the doctor, staff and how to get in touch.  Today most sites offer online scheduling that is so convenient!

3. What does the office focus on?

Are they Prenatal?  Sports? Wellness?  Do they have blog posts or articles that discuss physical issues and solutions? Have they worked with people with your same needs? This gives you an idea of what to expect.

4. What do the testimonials say?

Patients have great things to say about their experience.  Successful treatments are really key to understanding how the chiropractor works and treats their patients.  Are their testimonials on other sites as well?  (Google etc.)

Once you have decided on a treatment facility it is good to get an idea of the following:

  • How long each visit is?
  • What is the cost?  Does the cost include everything or are there additional costs that may be required for additional types of services?
  • Do they listen to your needs and address your issue or goals?
  • Do you feel better after treatment?
  • Do they refer out if not getting improvements?
  • Do they do re-exams to show progress?
