Parklets in San Francisco CA: Advice from your San Francisco Chiropractor
San Francisco CA Parklets as of April are either going to be taken down or each owner is to pay $2,000 per year to have one up.
Originally, these parakeets were set up to help businesses stay open and keep people safe during the Covid pandemic. This was done without charging fees to the owners. Now, if a business wants to have a parklet it can only take up two parking spaces and there are fees to be paid to the city.
Annual license for a parklet in San Francisco CA
Annual license for a parklet is $2,000 per parking space occupied. One time permits for fixed commercial parakeets cost $3,000 for the first parking space and $1,500 for the second. If a business does not make two million dollars in gross receipts, it can get a half-fee waiver.
Now that most people are vaccinated or have already had Covid-19, restaurants are now getting back to normal and parklets are not mandatory for people to be able to sit outside. Parking spaces in the city are pretty hard to find so opening up more spaces on the street may actually help revenue.
As I drove down Valencia Street on April 1, 2023, parklets have been torn down drastically and the street has opened up.
Hopefully businesses will be able to thrive again and people will start putting money back into the economy. Fingers crossed….
