Consistent habits lead to consistent health: SF Chiropractic Tips

Most people like to go to the spa to relax and be pampered.  You leave there feeling refreshed and calm.  Why is that?

This pampering is wonderful but body work is necessary for health and vitality.   Even though chiropractic is normally not like a spa, the effects on the body are fast and advantageous for a longer quality of life.

What does chiropractic do and how often do I see a chiropractor?

Well, not only does it get your joints and body functioning properly but it also helps blood pressure, anxiety, circulation, digestion, relieve pain, promote healthy sleep, help with muscle function, strengthen your immune system and so much more.

Chiropractic is often seen as an amenity.

The truth is that chiropractic roots started in 1895 and became popular because of what many patients experienced after the spine was adjusted.   It was a modality that was natural, safe and mildly invasive.  Medical books also attest to the same knowledge that chiropractors have utilized to give patients total health naturally.

What did the founders of chiropractic discover?

They realized that the spine protects the nervous system.  In Grey's Anatomy, Netter and other medial books they show how the nervous system branches from the brain.   It is the main highway that communicates throughout the whole body and its systems.  Without it, we can not survive and if the nerves are hampered, so are the areas that the nerves connect to.

Our world has drastically changed and our stress levels have increased.  We eat foods that are manufactured, sit for longer hours, exercise less and sleep less.  This is all accumulated stress that needs to be relieved or it will fester in our bodies.  The way to get rid of it is with body work.

Lifestyle and consistent healthy habits is key for health.

Just like working out, you don't get a six pack by going to the gym for one week and then not exercising.  Balance, prioritizing your health and doing what is needed for your body keeps your body thriving.

If you have knots in your shoulder or neck, these have been developing for weeks, months or even years.  Low back pain is rarely just one event. It is something you do repetitively improperly.  It can also be because there is an imbalance in your body that started years ago and is just coming to the surface.  Everyone's body has its own story and stories take time to develop.

How do I know what my body needs for me to be consistent?

Health is different for everyone based on lifestyle.  The best answer is the more stress you put your body under, the more you need to get it released.  That can mean in the beginning getting care pretty often until the time you have put in has shown results.  Once you are satisfied with how your body feels and functions the visits will be less often but not completely stopped.

Again, just like going to the gym, the body needs consistency.  Some people need once a week because they are really stressed, do very little physical activity (or too much activity).  Others may want every other week until they start feeling "stiff" or "sore".  There are other people that come in once a month.  It all depends on your body and what it needs.

People who see a chiropractor see results from pain and injury quickly but also they learn how to keep their body healthy as well.  With consistent body work injuries can be prevented and the doctor can also find out if there is a root cause of any dysfunction or pain that may be occurring. They can also keep your body moving and working the way it should to keep you healthier longer.
