Burner Stinger Is More Common Than You Think! Our Sports Chiropractor Can Help

What is Burner Stinger?

This injury is most common with football players when falling on the neck, but it can happen with anyone who falls onto their shoulder pushing their head to the opposite side of their body.  It can also occur when people stretch their neck muscles and nerves beyond their capacity.

Symptoms of Burner Stinger

1. Stinging pain in the shoulder or neck occurs

2. Pain which may radiate down to the arm or hand

3. Numbness and weakness of the shoulder or arm may happen immediately or over time.

Treatment for Burner Stinger:

Taking down inflammation is key.  After the swelling is gone, muscle therapy can begin.

Our chiropractor helps with low force chiropractic adjustments, and Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Therapy (S.A.S.T.M.) and cold laser.  This improves movement of the neck and decreases the affects of scar tissue after the injury.

It is important to start rehabilitation quickly in order to keep motion in the neck and prevent stiffness which will make for a slower recovery.   Exercise programs may be provided to improve strength and flexibility once your body is stable and able to function properly.

Precise Moves Chiropractic in San Carlos, CA and San Francisco, CA has been helping patients with sports injuries and Burner Stinger Syndrome for over a decade.  If you have hurt yourself, have limited motion or are not functioning at the level you would like, contact us, we can help!
